Twin panda cubs born in Chengdu
A GIANT panda at a breeding center in Sichuan Province gave birth to twin female cubs yesterday morning, the first twin panda cubs born this year.
The mother, Lili, gave birth to the first cub at 11:40am. The second was born eight minutes later, said Li Mingxi, an expert at the giant panda base in Chengdu, the provincial capital.
The cubs - one weighing 122 grams and the other 100 grams - were in good health, Li said.
"This is the first time that Lili has given birth to healthy baby pandas," Li added.
