Twin sons take care of paralyzed mum
NINETEEN-YEAR-OLD guard Cheng Zhineng takes half an hour's lunch break every day to take a meal to his bed-ridden mother, who was paralyzed before giving birth to Cheng and his twin brother.
Zhang, 48, gave birth to the brothers in a medical miracle in 1988 in central China's Hubei Province. Her sons are her only care-givers after her husband and mother died, today's Wuhan Evening News reported.
Cheng told the newspaper that he and his brother had seen how much their father had cared for their mother and promised to shoulder the burden.
They had to quit school aged 11 because their family was too poor and they needed to earn money, he said.
Since their father died in 2003, the boys, then 14, picked up odd jobs and last year Cheng moved the family to a 15-square-meter room he rented near Baishazhou market in Hubei's capital Wuhan, where he works as a guard.
Every morning, he helps his mother wash and feeds her breakfast before starting out on his 12-hour shift. During the lunch break, he asked for half an hour leave to send a meal to his mother.
His brother, who also worked as a guard in a bank, visited whenever he was off work, Cheng said.
