Two Xinjiang terrorists sentenced to death
The ringleader and a member of a terrorist group linked to a deadly attack that left 21 people dead on April 23 in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region have been sentenced to death by the Intermediate People's Court of Kashgar prefecture in Xinjiang.
Musa Asan, the ringleader, was sentenced to death for running a terrorist organization, leading terrorist attacks, illegally manufacturing explosives and murder.
Rahman Opur, a gang member, was sentenced to death for taking part in terrorist attacks and murder.
Three others were jailed for terms ranging from nine years to life.
According to previous reports, police caught 19 suspects connected to a deadly clash between terrorists and authorities in a town in Kashgar's Bachu County that left 21 people dead, including police officers and local government officials.
The violence broke out after neighborhood security inspectors uncovered a bomb-making ring that was planning a major attack in the city of Kashgar.
