Two abducted children killed: Police

POLICE in south China's Shenzhen City confirmed that at least two kidnapped children have been killed in a wave of abductions.

A fifth grader in the city's Futian District was killed after he was abducted on October 20, police said. The kidnappers asked the parents for US$500,000 but killed him after they paid the ransom, reported China News Service today.

Several kidnappings have also been reported in Nanshan District with at least one child killed, the report said.

Police have launched an 80-day crackdown against child kidnappings, and said most parents shouldn't worry because most abducted children were rescued successfully, the report said.
