Two detained for false bomb threats in Beijing
BEIJING police said today that they have detained two men who threatened to explode the capital airport and a game parlor out of personal grievance in two seperate cases on Saturday.
One of the suspects, surnamed Wang, called the police at about 9:50pm on Saturday, claiming he was going to explode the airport. He was caught at home at 11pm and no explosions were found.
Police said Wang, 39, was drunk then. He made the bomb threat because he was unhappy with a land dispute.
In the other case, a man surnamed Liu, claimed he was taking the bomb to a video game parlor at 10:48pm on Saturday. Liu, 31, was caught at midnight with no explosions on him.
Liu told the police he spent a lot of money in the parlor and was very depressed.
Police warned that convicts who fabricate or spread fake terrorism information could face a jail term of more than five years if severe consequences happened.
