Two executed for organized crimes and brothel business

THE richest gang boss and his right-hand man in Chongqing, southwest China, were executed today for running a criminal ring and prostitution in a swanky nightclub.
Chen Mingliang was convicted of organized crimes, drug dealing, gambling, prostitution and briberies, the city's higher court said.
The Municipal Higher People's Court on May 18 rejected Chen's appeal for leniency after he was sentenced to death by a lower court in February.
The death penalty had been approved by the Supreme People's Court in Beijing, according to the Municipal Higher People's Court.
Zhou Yong, his accomplice, received a death sentence because he took charge of drug trafficking between 2005 and 2009 without Chen's knowledge.
The court said Chen and Zhou started the gang in 2001 with Lei Deming and Ma Dang operating from the Yun Meng Nightclub.
Chen directed the gang to turn the nightclub into a brothel, where more than 100 women worked as prostitutes every day, earning the gang more than 26 million yuan (US$3.8 million), before the police shut down the nightclub.
