Two killed in Guangxi expressway crash

TWO people died and 10 were injured when a coach crashed into a truck on an expressway in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region today.

The bus, registered in the southwestern Sichuan Province, hit a large truck that had stopped on an interprovincial expressway linking Guangxi's capital, Nanning, with Quanzhou, of Fujian Province, a spokesman with Nanning Fire Brigade said.

Two people died at the scene.

Dozens of passengers were trapped in the bus until the fire brigade sent 30 rescuers to help them out, he said.

Two of the 10 people injured were in serious condition. "They are all in hospital," he said.

The spokesman did not identify the victims.

He said authorities had launched an investigation.
