UK offers fast-track visa option
CHINESE students applying for the UK Tier 4 visa through the country’s visa application centers can have their applications processed within 24 hours between August 8 and October 14, according to UK officials.
This means that the UK “super priority” visa service, will be for the first time extended to student applicants.
During the 10-week trial period, a total of 100 super priority appointments will be available every day to Tier 4 applicants, the UK Consulate-General in Shanghai said.
The cost of the service is 750 pounds (US$990).
The number of daily slots for the service may be increased in the future depending on demand, and the service could be made permanent “if successful,” according to UK officials.
Meanwhile, students will also continue to have access to the 3-5 day priority visa service at all 15 visa application centers in China.
Application centers in Beijing and Guangzhou will also take part in the trial.
Up to 800 Tier 4 applications are submitted to the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) every day across China during the peak application period, according to statistics from the UK.
In the year ending March 2016, UKVI received around 3,000 super priority visa service applications in China.
