US high school students fall sick with swine flu
SIX American high school students attending a Chinese Bridge summer camp have been hospitalized with swine flu in Zhengzhou, capital of central China's Henan Province, a health department spokesman said yesterday.
Zhou Yong, from the Henan Provincial Health Department, said yesterday that three of the students from St Mary's School in Medfort, Oregon ?? Walter Gordon Moczygemba, Dominika Carroll and Rawly Lyle - are doing fine after being treated at the Zhengzhou No. 6 People's Hospital.
St Mary's camp leader Nicholas Phillips confirmed yesterday that three more students were also diagnosed with swine flu. Mackenzie Kriezer, Kellen Haverman and Matthew Schulenberg were also transferred to the Zhengzhou hospital for treatment.
The Chinese Bridge camp was organized to promote Chinese teaching overseas. Zhou said the Americans arrived in Beijing on July 15, traveled to Henan and arrived in Zhengzhou on Saturday afternoon. They visited Dengfeng and Kaifeng.
The other campers were allowed to continue to travel around Henan as long as they adopt protective measures, such as wearing face masks. They were scheduled to depart tomorrow.
