US told to solve trade disputes through talks
CHINA urged the United States yesterday to avoid disrupting trade and to settle disputes through negotiation after the US President Donald Trump said he may impose tariffs or quotas.
China-US trade is “mutually beneficial” and disagreements are inevitable, said Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Geng Shuang. All governments should spare no effort to avoid negative impacts on the global recovery, he added.
Trump said on Tuesday he is “considering all options” in response to complaints that Chinese steel and aluminum being sold at “improperly” low prices threaten US jobs. Trump told legislators he might take action on national security grounds.
“We should see these differences in a reasonable and objective manner and properly handle and manage them through dialog,” the Chinese spokesman said.
