University gets tough on sex-for-cash students

HAVING sex with a married partner and wrecking other's family life can lead to expulsion, a Guangzhou university warned its students, but this has sparked a heated debate.

"Those who maintain a 'special relationship' with a married partner will be expelled from the school," South China Normal University said in a warning, which was interpreted as a stern response to some students acting as mistresses or toy boys for money, China News Service reported today.

The school rule which forbids cohabiting and destroying others' marriage has caused wide discussion among students, some criticizing it as impractical. "They have the right to sleep with whoever they like. That is none of the school's business," one student was quoted as saying.

Another girl who was not named said most of her classmates do not despise those who sleep with a rich man and respect their choices.

Still many students think the school's regulation was necessary in guiding young people to have a right life.
