Urban management officials attack retired teacher
A 64-year-old man in Guizhou Province was beaten up and abandoned in the suburbs by urban management officials and his assailants have yet to be punished, Hunan Morning Paper reported today.
Police in Dingxiao Development District of Guizhou told the newspaper that the three men who beat assaulted teacher Fu Longchao were temporary employees of the local urban management team. They hadn't been punished yet because Fu failed to have his injuries evaluated at the appointed hospital.
Fu owns six shops in Dingxiao and rents out five of them. On November 18, more than 20 people wearing urban management uniforms came to one of his rented shops to dismantle a sign because "it lacked certificates," according to the report.
"I was watching from about 10 meters away when two of them suddenly pulled me into the house and started hitting me," Fu told the newspaper. "Later another man with a shield pushed me into their vehicle and continued hitting me."
The three men eventually drove away with Fu and abandoned him in the countryside. Fu called his daughter for help, and was sent to Xingyi Hospital later that night, the report said.
According to Fu, local urban management administration officials visited him in hospital, apologized and paid for his medical expenses in the following days. They also promised to punish the troublemakers, but this hasn't happened yet.
A Dingxiao Police Station employee told the newspaper that Fu needed to have his injuries evaluated at an appointed hospital and that punishment would depend on the severity of injury.
Fu told the newspaper this was unreasonable as he had not totally recovered and could not leave the current hospital. He also expressed concern that if he made an injury report now, the assailants wound be punished lightly because his injuries had already improved significantly since the assault, according to the report.
