Vice mayor guilty of breaches


A VICE mayor of Hangzhou, the capital city of Zhejiang Province, has been removed from his post after being found guilty of serious disciplinary breaches.

Xu Maiyong is under investigation, the provincial disciplinary supervising authority confirmed yesterday.

The authority did not specify the type of breaches involved.

Xu, born in February 1959, is a native of Hangzhou. He was Hangzhou's vice mayor and member of CPC Hangzhou Committee. He was also in charge of the city's Qianjiang New Town project.

In June 1984 Xu was made vice director of Xiaoshan County's Chengxiang Town in Hangzhou. He was later promoted to be director of Hangzhou's Xihu District in September 2002.

In April 2008 he was made Hangzhou's vice mayor.
