Victim's kin reject accident theory
THE family of a car accident victim in east China's Jiangsu Province have rejected police investigation results and were looking for a witness who said on the Internet that the accident was caused by some rich youths, who were drag racing on the street, Yangzi Evening News reported yesterday.
Zan Xinjiu, 30, a Hubei Province native, was hit head-on on Sunday afternoon by a BMW M6 racing car on Dingqiang Road in Nanjing while on his electric bicycle. He died in hospital later.
Some local residents said the street is a popular racing track for rich people but the city's traffic police claimed, after a primary investigation, it was a normal traffic accident and detained the 25-year-old driver Wu, the report said.
The witness said in his post on Xici.net on Monday that Wu was drag racing with another car, a Mitsubishi, when he hit the victim, a father of four children, at high speed.
Zan's brother said he hoped the witness will come forward to give evidence.
