Wang Rulin appointed Jilin Party chief

WANG Rulin has been appointed secretary of the Jilin Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), replacing Sun Zhengcai, according to a decision announced by the CPC Central Committee today.

Wang, born in April 1953, was elected governor and vice Party chief of Jilin Province in January 2010. He is also a member of the 18th CPC Central Committee.

Wang Jingqing, vice head of the Organization Department of CPC Central Committee, said at a meeting in northeast China's Jilin Province that the personnel change was made through meticulous considerations based on assessment of the overall situation, the need of work, and the actual situation of Jilin's leadership buildup.

The CPC Central Committee announced on November 20 that Sun Zhengcai would no longer hold the post of secretary of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee.

Sun, born in September 1963, is currently a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee.
