Wang Yang elected Party chief of Guangdong

WANG Yang was elected secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) yesterday.

The election was held at the first plenary session of the 11th CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee.

Wang served as the CPC chief of Chongqing between 2005 and 2007 before being appointed by the CPC Central Committee as the CPC chief of Guangdong in December 2007.

Born in 1955 in Suzhou, Anhui province, Wang is a member of the Political Bureau of the 17th CPC Central Committee.
