Wave warning upgraded as Typhoon Utor approaches
A yellow wave warning for Typhoon Utor was raised to orange, the second highest level, yesterday by the National Marine Environmental Forecasting Center.
Utor is expected to make landfall in south China’s Guangdong Province between tomorrow night and early Thursday morning.
The center warned of waves as high as 12 meters in the northern part of the South China Sea at that time. Today, Utor is expected to create waves as high as 10 meters in the eastern and northern parts of the sea. It is also expected to bring waves from 2 to 3.5 meters high to Guangdong’s coastal areas.
