THE Hong Kong Observatory is ready to provide real-time weather information, forecasts and warnings for the 2009 East Asian Games, an observatory official said yesterday. The Games will be held from December 5 to 13, so the risk of severe weather such as tropical cyclones and rainstorms is greatly reduced, officials said. However, windy conditions caused by intense winter monsoons and the occasional thunderstorm could still disrupt outdoor events such as windsurfing, observatory officials pointed out.
