Wen pledges help for Japan
TO support an early recovery from the quake-tsunami twin disasters, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said yesterday that China would be sending trade delegations and tourists to Japan, and easing restrictions on Japanese food imports provided Tokyo ensures their safety.
On the nuclear crisis, Wen urged Japan to provide China with timely relevant information, saying China was ready to provide assistance and boost cooperation with Japan on nuclear power safety.
Naoto Kan, his Japanese counterpart, thanked Wen for visiting the disaster-stricken areas of Sendai and Fukushima, which, he said, came as a great encouragement to the people there and had helped improve friendship between the nations.
Kan promised to keep China informed of progress at the Fukushima nuclear plant.
