Premier Wen Jiabao will meet US President Barack Obama at the UN General Assembly meeting in New York next week. Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin said yesterday the two will discuss a range of bilateral and international issues. He did not elaborate.
The premier's meeting with Obama marks a symbolic step in getting ties back on track ahead of a possible visit to Washington in January by President Hu Jintao.
Hu last week told American officials that China wants healthy ties between the countries.
