Wheelchair-bound man charged in bombing at Beijing airport

BEIJING prosecutors today filed charges against a wheelchair-bound man who detonated a homemade bomb at Beijing Capital International Airport last month, officials in Chaoyang District said today.

Ji Zhongxing, 34, faces charges of setting off explosives in public.

He set off a device outside the Arrival Hall at Terminal 3 of the airport on July 20. He lost his left forearm and a police officer who approached him sustained minor injuries, an investigation showed.

The case was transferred to prosecutors in Beijing’s Chaoyang District on August 8, police said.
