White House thanks Beijing cabbies
THREE taxi drivers in Beijing received letters from the White House yesterday thanking them for their services during US president Barack Obama's visit to China.
Wang Decheng, Zhou Yong, and Yang Bo, three cabbies from Beijing Taxis, said they were appointed to serve President Obama, the White House Communication Agency, and the United States Secret Service before the visit, according to Beijing Times today.
The letter of thanks lauded the three for offering safe, punctual and satisfactory transportation service to the US presidential team.
Zhou said the three of them also served Italian government officials during last year's Beijing Olympics, but the job for President Obama was much more intense as they had to work 12-hour shifts.
"We had to eat in the car and could spend a limited time a day in the bathroom," Zhou said.
