White tiger mauled to death by other tigers in zoo
A young white tiger was mauled to death by three bigger tigers in a zoo in the port city of Weihai in Shandong Province, today's Shandong Business Daily reported.
Photos posted on the Internet by a zoo visitor showed three tigers were attacking their albino zoo mate in the Shendiao Mountain Wildlife Park. The white tiger was bleeding and fatally mauled. Viewers were shocked at the gruesome images.
The visitor said that after he took the pictures, a zoo keeper came and drove away the attackers, but it was too late as the white tiger had died.
Many viewers said they suspected the zoo didn't provide enough food for the tigers, which led to the tragedy. But the zoo denied their allegations.
"The tigers always live in the same place and such tragedy never happened before. It must be an accident. We are doing our best to find out the cause," a zoo manager told the newspaper.
