Wife in suicide leap after police husband killed

The wife of a police official shot dead by an armed suspect killed herself early yesterday morning, the Ministry of Public Security said.
Liu Wenjuan jumped from the top floor of a hotel in Suning County. According to the Beijing Morning Post, she was with her brother but he failed to prevent her fall.
Liu鈥檚 husband, Xue Yongqing, 48, political commissar with the Suning Public Security Bureau in north China鈥檚 Hebei Province, had died in hospital early on Tuesday morning.
The ministry issued a statement expressing its condolences.
鈥淧olice and their relatives are just ordinary people,鈥 it said. 鈥淭hey have suffered too much and have borne unimaginable pain.鈥
The couple鈥檚 son, a university student in Hebei, has been admitted to hospital after he collapsed on hearing the news of his parents鈥 deaths.
On Monday, Liu Shuangrui, 55, shot dead two villagers in the village of Xishibao in Suning County and injured three others with a hunting rifle.
Cornered in his house early on Tuesday, he engaged in a gun battle with police, hitting Xue in the head and Assistant Police Chief Yuan Shuai, 34, on the body. Both died in hospital.
The gunman was found dead in his house at about 5am. How he died is the subject of an investigation, police said.
