Woman accused of strangling 5-year-old neighbor to death in Guangzhou

A WOMAN is being accused of strangling a 5-year-old neighbor boy to death with a rice cooker’s electric cord and hiding his body under the sofa on Tuesday in her home in Guangzhou city, police said, according to a report today in Nanfang Metropolis Daily.
The woman, surnamed Tian, had wrapped the boy’s body in a woven bag after killing him in front of her own 6-year-old daughter, police said.
The motive for the killing appeared to be an accusation by the boy’s grandfather that a child living in Tian’s house had broken the grandfather’s television aerial.
The boy, living with his grandparents in Guangzhou’s Huadu District, had been waiting for his grandfather downstairs to go to school around 7:50am Tuesday, the report said.
The grandfather, who has a disabled left leg, was slow getting downstairs and could not find the boy when he got there 10 minutes later.
Tian’s daughter turned to her uncle for help after she witnessed the killing, a villager surnamed Chen told the newspaper
The boy’s body was discovered and removed from Tian’s home on Tuesday afternoon.
The suspect’s husband and brother-in-law were also under investigation, police said.
