Woman castrates husband on suspicion of infidelity

A woman in central China's Hunan Province was sentenced to 11 years in jail yesterday for castrating her husband while he was asleep to prevent his extramarital affairs.

The woman, identified as A' Lan, pleaded guilty after being convicted of intentional injury by a court in Zhuzhou City in the province.

The court said it showed lenience at the request of the offender's husband and daughter. Both said they forgave her.

The woman said she grew suspicious of her husband's loyalty and decided to deprive her husband of sexual function after he turned down to have sex with her on May 23.

She induced him to take sleeping pills at 10:30pm and seeing he had fallen sleep, she tied him up on bed and cut off his testicles. Then she phoned her brother-in-law, saying she wounded her husband and asked him to "stitch the wound."

She then fled to another city and wandered in the street. The next day she decided to return home and called the police to turn herself in.
