Woman caught and sterilized after second birth
A woman was caught, brought to her hometown in southeast Fujian Province and forced to have a sterilization surgery a week ago, the Beijing News reported today.
The woman, her name not revealed, was tracked down in Shenzhen in neighboring Guangdong Province by family planning officials from Penghua, Fujian Province on October 24.
She gave birth to her second child four months ago.
The officials brought the woman back to Penghua, locked her up in a small room and threatened that she wouldn't be able to leave the room unless she receives a tubal ligation surgery, the report said.
One official, Hong Yanna, said they tracked down the woman in another province because unauthorized births would affect their job performance.
Hong said it was not an isolated case. They had pursued other women outside Fujian before, the report said.
