Woman cuts fingers of stepdaughter

A WOMAN cut the ear and four fingers of her six-year-old stepdaughter on New Year's Day in Guangdong Province, Guangzhou Daily reported yesterday.
Feng Baohua, the stepmother, allegedly pulled the girl into the kitchen and cut her left ear with a kitchen knife.
The girl burst into tears and rushed out but Feng caught her and cut four fingers from the girl's right hand, the report said.
"I have never seen such a cruel mother," Liang Zutian, the security director of Hefeng Village in Foshan City, told the newspaper.
The girl's father Huo Rixiong left her in a hospital after giving 6,000 yuan (US$878) for treatment and hiring a nurse. He has not returned since.
Doctors also found a cut near the girl's vagina and reported to police.
Feng was arrested the following day.
Police are still investigating the case.
