Woman dies in Beijing Carrefour knife attack
A female victim was killed while three others including two boys were injured by a man who attacked shoppers with a knife inside a Carrefour store in China's capital city, Beijing, about 11:40am today.
The middle-aged victim, surnamed Liu, was pronounced dead at hospital, local media reported.
She had suffered severe chest wounds in the attack.
Other victims included two boys and a 24-year-old man.
Local media reported that a 2-year-old boy was heavily injured. His mother kept crying while waiting at the local children's hospital, it's reported.
Intestines were exposed from the boy's heavily-injured abdomen, local media reported.
The other boy, 12, was stabbed in his back while the last victim, the 24-year-old man, was injured in his chest and waist.
Police said the stabbings took place on the second level of the Carrefour store in Maliandao area.
The suspect was seized on the scene. He is identified by police as a 50-year-old Beijing local resident.
The store had been shut down.
