Woman hits officials to save her chickens

A Nanjing woman cut the foot tendon of an urban management official yesterday as she tried to save three chickens from be killed as the capital city of Jiangsu Province decimated birds to avoid avian flu outbreak.
The woman surnamed Su hid the chickens in her house when a group of law enforcement officials showed up at her door around 2pm yesterday, local media reported.
Su abused and pushed these officials, shouting: "I wish I had bird flu and infect you with the virus," a witness said.
Seeing two of her chickens were slain amidst the chaos, the furious woman ran to the kitchen, grabbed a knife and a broken beer bottle, and began to attack the officials. One, surnamed Tong, got hit and suffered severed tendons in his right foot.
The woman fled the scene and went into hiding. Police are now urging her to surrender.
