Woman labelled drug trafficker for eight years
A WOMAN wrongly labeled as a drug user and trafficker in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality may finally be able to put an end to eight years of harassment.
Her troubles began in 2002 when a neighbor used Hu Ya's personal information after she was caught drug trafficking, Hu told yesterday's Chongqing Evening News.
She complained that the mistaken identity had made it hard for her to find a job and to travel. She had been asking Jieshi police station to correct the record for eight years but without success.
The latest incident was in July last year when she was attending a job training session at a hotel. A police officer summoned her for urine checks after learning about her "criminal record" from the ID card she used to check in.
Jieshi police director Zhao told the newspaper that the office had submitted Hu's correction request to Banan District Police and was awaiting a reply.
