Woman sentenced over fatal stabbing

A WOMAN has been jailed for eight years over a fatal stabbing when workers tried to demolish her mother's house.
The Suqian Intermediate People's Court in Jiangsu Province also ordered the woman, who was not named, to pay 270,000 yuan (US$39,531) to the family of the victim, a man surnamed Yuan, Yangtze Evening Post reported yesterday.
The woman's mother lived in an area where Yuan's company was in charge of relocation but there was a disagreement over compensation.
Yuan ordered his workers to glue the locks on the door and family members had to crawl in and out through the windows, the court heard.
On May 30 last year, Yuan and nine workers went to the house but were refused entry. Yuan tried to smash the door down but was confronted by the mother's two sons.
Their sister joined in the row, stabbing Yuan on the neck and head.
