Woman stabbed to death

A MIDDLE-AGED Hong Kong woman was stabbed to death on Friday night in front of her apartment in Shanghai, city police said yesterday.
The victim, Chan Chui-yu, 48, was a senior manager of a company and had recently moved to the apartment in Lane 89 Hengshui Road, Hongkou District, according to the building's property management team.
Officials said Chan was returning home at the time and may have been followed by the attacker, who is still at large.
Neighbors said the building where Chan rented an apartment was used for both residential and commercial purposes and strangers were often seen in the building.
The stabbing was reported on Friday night when Chan was found lying in a pool of blood in front of her 11th floor apartment, witnesses said.
She sustained several stab wounds and was pronounced dead after paramedics arrived.
About 60 to 70 percent of the residents in the building are tenants, an employee of the property management team said.
Police said they are still investigating the case.
