Women start fire on Beijing subway train
TWO women started a fire on a Metro train in Beijing this afternoon but were stopped before the flames did any serious damage, the Beijing News reported.
The incident took place as a train neared Beijing Line 1's Jianguomen Station about 2:30pm.
"When the door opened, I saw something on fire. So I got off the train immediately," one witness posted online.
Another witness posted, "Two women took flammable goods onto the train and ignited them."
The Metro authority reportedly said the flames had been extinguished within minutes.
Police have the two women in custody, but they didn’t give any indication of their motives, the report said.
Traffic on Line 1 resumed at 3:26pm, the authority said.
