Worker gets prison for attempted bombing of boss

A CONSTRUCTION worker who sent a homemade bomb to a supervisor after believing he had been shortchanged in pay was sentenced in Beijing to 42 months in prison, People’s Daily website reported today.

No one was injured as the team leader, surnamed Zang, discovered the explosive device installed under his vehicle by a worker surnamed Yin, removed it and reported it to police.

Yin confessed in court he planted the bomb after feeling frustrated about unpaid wages.

Starting in 2006, Yin, who worked as an electrician, started to work on projects for Zang. In April 2012, Yin asked to be paid 33,000 yuan (US$5,387) but was refused by Zang at first. Later, Yin received 13,000 yuan of the money but had to give the remaining 20,000 to Zang as compensation when Yin’s uncle slapped Zang during the incident. The compensation angered Yin.

In January 2013, Yin installed the bomb under Zang’s vehicle at night. In April, Yin was arrested by police in Fujian Province.
