Worker negligence blamed for deadly train collision
CHINA'S Ministry of Railways announced Wednesday that a worker's negligence of operating procedures caused a brake failure leading to a train collision that left three people dead.
A train collision happened on June 29 at Chenzhou station, in Hunan Province, caused by a brake failure of train K9017.
The failure caused train K9017 from Changsha, capital of Hunan, to Shenzhen to collide with another train.
The ministry set up a working team to investigate the accident's cause.
Train K9017 had 18 carriages manufactured in May by Nanjing Puzhen Vehicles Co., Ltd.
The negligence of a company worker named Feng Long when installing a brake hose on the second carriage caused the failure, the unnamed official in charge of the working team told Xinhua Wednesday.
Feng has been handed over to the prosecuting authorities, according to the ministry.
