World's largest dinosaur fossil site
THE largest dinosaur fossil site in the world has been discovered in eastern China?s Shandong Province, Dazhong Daily reported today.
Scientists have found more than 15,000 pieces of dinosaur fossils during the third excavation of the site in Zhucheng City that has been going on since January 2008.
A park will be established around the 500-meter-long, 26-meter-deep fossil site, where the fossils are believed to be formed in Mesozoic Cretaceous period about 70 million years ago.
Hadrosaurs, or duck-billed dinosaurs, were discovered during the previous two excavations, in 1964 and 1988.
