World's longest high-speed rail opening soon

The Beijing-Guangzhou High-speed Railway will go into full operation on December 26, becoming the world's longest high-speed rail in commercial service, China Central Television reported.

It will take only 7 hours and 59 minutes to travel end to end by a fast train service.

The section between Beijing and Zhengzhou, capital of central Henan Province, is scheduled to start trial operation on December 20 before it goes into full operation on December 26.

The stretch from Zhengzhou to Guangzhou, capital of southern Guangdong Province, is already in service, CCTV said.
