Wrong data trigues glitch in nuclear power plant
A technical glitch occurred on Sunday in the Ling'ao Nuclear Power Plant in Guangdong Province, about 50 kilometers from Hong Kong, but it was fixed immediately and no radiation leak was detected, Hong Kong-based Wen Wei Po reported today.
The Daya Bay Nuclear Power Operations and Management Corporation, the operator of the nuclear plant, said some workers input wrong data in the control system and caused the malfunction, but the mistake was corrected at once and didn't cause any leak.
The company said the mistake would not affect the safety of the nuclear power plant.
The incident has been reported to the authorities of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
