Wuhan building collapse kills 1 worker, injures 7
A six-story building still under construction collapsed in central Hubei Province yesterday, killing one worker and injuring seven others, China National Radio reported today.
Rescuers were still sifting through the rubble to find more victims.
The building, which was nearly completed, collapsed without warning around 6pm yesterday in a suburban village of Wuhan, the provincial capital. Rescuers found the body of one worker and pulled out seven others who were seriously injured. One of them suffered brain injury and was in critical condition, the report said.
Another survivor crawled out of the debris himself and was not injured.
Local residents said there might be two more workers still buried in the collapsed building.
The cause of the accident was not immediately known and an investigation has been carried out, the report said.
