Wuhan hero cop regains consciousness

A POLICEMAN who was seriously injured rescuing a woman hostage from an armed man yesterday has regained consciousness after surgery, cnbuhei.com reported.
Tan Jixiong was shot in the head by the gunman during the rescue. Police shot and killed the attacker at Wuhan University.
Tan is now in a stable condition. Doctors removed a bullet and dozens of bone fragments. They said he suffered serious brain damage.
Close contact with Tan has been limited. Doctors said he could not stand noise and excitement.
Tan was given another CT scan this morning.
