Wuhan seriously flooded by rainstorms
RESIDENTS in Wuhan woke up to a seriously flooded city with many road unable to facilitate traffic this morning as rainstorms continued to bash the capital city of middle China's Hubei Province.
The Wuhan City Emergency Response Office have named dozens of road sections and local spots that remained too flooded for traffic by 1pm today online.
The office also reminded locals that part of the city's manhole covers have been opened to help ease flooding. People are warned to be pay attention and walk slowly on the street to avoid falling into the open manholes.
Across the country, heavy rain has left 128 people dead and 42 others missing in five days, figures from the Ministry of Civil Affairs showed on Tuesday.
Rain since June 30 has led to the collapse of 41,000 houses and forced the evacuation of more than 1.34 million people, mostly along the Yangtze River and its tributaries, Xinhua News Agency reported.
Nearly 600,000 people are in urgent need of basic living assistance, with 23.3 million threatened by floods.
