Xi, Ban discuss situations in Koreas, Syria
CHINESE President Xi Jinping and UN chief Ban Ki-moon yesterday discussed the Korean Peninsula and Syria, during Ban's three-day visit to China.
Ban met Xi after earlier visiting a center which trains China's UN peacekeepers.
Xi also told Ban that China will increase efforts to promote the peaceful settlement of international disputes.
Ban praised China's commitment to peacekeeping efforts. China has dispatched 22,000 troops to 23 missions, more than the other four permanent members of the UN Security Council combined.
"I applaud this solidarity," Ban said, noting 14 Chinese peacekeepers have died while serving.
