Xi highlights importance of relations with Russia and US

RUSSIA is China’s comprehensive strategic partner of coordination, and whatever changes may take place at international level, China will not alter its determination to deepen bilateral relations, President Xi Jinping said yesterday.
Xi made the remarks during a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
China cannot develop in isolation from the rest of the world, Xi said, and China is willing to work with Russia to advance relations to benefit the two peoples as well as people from all other countries.
During the conversation, Putin congratulated Xi on his re-election as general secretary of the Communist Party of China’s Central Committee.
Putin also extended his congratulations on the successful conclusion of the 19th CPC National Congress.
US President Donald Trump also congratulated Xi on his re-election and on the successful conclusion of the congress in a phone conversation on Wednesday.
Trump said the congress had attracted worldwide attention, and he had paid close attention to the important policy-related messages set out by Xi.
On his upcoming state visit to China, Trump said the American people were heatedly discussing the visit, and he expected a full exchange of views on enhancing cooperation between the two countries and on international and regional issues of common concern.
Thanking Trump, Xi said the congress, which had drawn a blueprint for China’s future development, was of great significance.
As noted in his report to the congress, China will unswervingly follow the path of peaceful development, pursue a win-win strategy of opening-up, expand converging interests with all countries, and promote coordination and cooperation among major countries.
Xi said China attached great importance to Sino-US ties and was willing to promote the long-term, healthy and stable development of relations on the basis of mutual respect and mutual benefits.
Xi said he expects to plan the future development for Sino-US relations when he meets Trump in Beijing next month so as to promote cooperation between the two sides, bring real benefits to the two peoples, and make greater contributions to regional and international peace, stability and prosperity.
