Xi tells Trump of unswerving goal to maintain peace
CHINESE President Xi Jinping told his US counterpart Donald Trump last night that it is China’s unswerving goal to maintain peace and stability in northeast Asia and denuclearize the Korean Peninsula.
Xi made the comments in a phone conversation with Trump after Pyongyang hailed the launch of a new intercontinental ballistic missile as a success.
Xi said China would like to keep up communications with the United States and all other related parties, and jointly push the nuclear issue toward the direction of peaceful settlement via dialogues and negotiations.
In response, Trump said the US has serious concerns over the launch.
Trump said Washington highly values China’s important role in solving the nuclear issue, and is willing to enhance communications and coordinations with China in search for solutions to the issue.
