Xi'an gas explosion kills 4, injures 19
AT LEAST four people were killed and 19 injured in an explosion near a bus stop in Xi'an City this morning, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province.
Preliminary investigations have found the blast, which happened at 7:30am on the first floor of a building, was caused by natural gas leak. Witnesses said the casualties were high because the explosion took place near a bus stop, the local Chinese Business View reported.
Dozens of cars were damaged with their windows shattered by the powerful burst.
Both the Party chief and mayor of Xi'an have rushed to the site to direct rescue operations, the report said.
