Xinjiang police shoot attacker after firing warning shots

A MAN who was shot by security officers after attacking them died on April 13 in Aksu Prefecture of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, ts.cn reported today, citing the prefecture’s Public Security Bureau.

The man rushed a security point twice on a motorcycle on April 12, according to the report. The officers fired warning shots into the air, but the man still attacked them, the website said.

Officers shot the man, who was sent to a hospital in Kalpin County, the report said. He died in the hospital the next day.

Kalpin is about 100 kilometers from the Kyrgyzstan border.
