FOUR township officials in east China who attempted to revoke their previous confession, told the court today that police had forced them

Shen Meiying, one of the four, former deputy head of Civil Affairs of Zhili Township, Zhejiang Province said police threatened her with a photo showing her son handcuffed. She had been interrogated for five consecutive days in January.

Shen said she was forced to admit taking 220,000 yuan of the donation money for the massive Sichuan earthquake in May, 2008, reported Beijing News today.

Shen filed an appeal against her 13 years and six months sentence.

The other three officers, Sun Shuirong, Chen Guorong and Wei Zhugen also appealed against their 17 to 10 years jail terms, saying police forced them to admit the embezzlement.
