CPC expels former senior NE official
黑龙江省委原常委韩学键被双开
Han Xuejian, a former senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, has been expelled from the CPC and dismissed from public office following a graft investigation.
Han, former member of the standing committee of the CPC provincial committee and party chief of Daqing City, was found to have accepted gifts and taken advantage of his post to seek profits for his relatives, according to a statement issued by the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) on Thursday.
He also sought profits for others in cadre selection and business operations and accepted huge bribes, said the CCDI.
The statement said Han continued with his violations even after President Xi Jinping kicked off China's anti-corruption campaign at the 18th CPC National Congress in late 2012. "The nature of the case is vile and the circumstances grave," the statement added.
Also on Thursday, the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) said an investigation has been opened into Han for allegedly taking bribes.
He has been placed under compulsory measures, according to the SPP.
Compulsory measures may include summons by force, bail, residential surveillance, detention and arrest.
