A DEPUTY governor of Sichuan Province has been removed from his posts over allegations of corruption.
Li Chuncheng, 56, was said to have been taken away for investigation on Saturday, Caijing Magazine's website said yesterday. He was elected an alternate member of the Communist Party of China's Central Committee last month during the Party's 18th Congress.
Insiders said the case was closely connected to that of Dai Xiaoming, former CEO of state-owned Chengdu Industry Investment Group Co Ltd and once Li's right-hand man.
The Party disciplinary watchdog launched a corruption investigation into Dai on September 11.
Dai is said to have provided information about other senior officials.
On Weibo.com, Shen Yong, who said he was a police officer, published six posts about Li.
In the post he calls him "Li Chaicheng," meaning destroyer of cities.
He claimed Li had offered tens of millions of yuan to Han Guizhi, Heilongjiang Province's former top adviser who received a suspended death sentence in 2005 for bribery, in order to win promotion when he was a Party official in Harbin, capital of Heilongjiang.
Li failed to win a position in the CPC Central Committee in 2007, but finally made it this year.
Shen claimed Li had "bought" his posts and, in an attempt to recoup his outlay, created a department and promoted his wife from a hospital worker to be a low-ranking official.
